Flea Market Finds... Italian Style -or- Thrift Share Monday from halfway across the world :)

Found some toned-down pieces at that flea market that we will be bringing home as merch for the future-store. For personal use/enjoyment I found a stack of vintage postcards and greeting cards with hysterical graphics for scanning when I get home. Tomorrow I have to purchase a carry-on luggage for the breakables, we always seem to be bringing lamps home!

Here is a bad iphone photo of the goodies. The teak and glass lamps are wall sconces and signed though I can't read it right now. It's raining out today and dark in the apartment ... the smoke glass lamps are table lamps; oddly enough. And I think they are definately more 70's than MCM. The planter is so painfully Italian ~ but I may keep it because I am a hoarder of planters. AND I do not have anything like this in my collection.

Again sorry for the poor quality of photos ~ it's all I have to work with here. :) I would love to hear everyone's opinions on these lamps. They are not in my range of taste; I would never have them in the house but part of having a shop, I realize, is catering to many people's tastes. It's hard to start to buy for others in mind... if that makes sense.

I also feel like I haven't shopped quite enough so tomorrow will warrant a trip to Retro.it across the alleyway and see what (non-breakables) I can pick. She had a HUGE art glass dachshund that I am in love with but I can't pack anymore fragile pieces. Today is actually a 'bigger' holiday than Easter and all shops are closed. I will have to wait until tomorrow.

Between the holiday and the rain, I've been in the apartment most of today, washing clothes and eating way too many sweets. Now I have the chance to read everyone's blogs for the first time in over a week, I'm so excited to have the time to do this!

Auction Day

Today was (is! it's still going on... from 10am to 10pm) Auction Day at a local spot. We get there in time for previewing, put in our absentee bids and leave. Since P-I-C starts work at noon everyday, it works out well for us. Tomorrow AM he will call the house to see if he won anything. There was nothing spectacular that we NEEDED, but I'm always about the tables of smalls and checking out dishes, fabric, art, pottery, books etc.

Today was Lamp-a-palooza and even though we don't need any more lamps we did put bids in on a few PAIRS. I guess if they're in matching pairs it's ok to buy. Weird logic.

Here are some snaps that I took, covert spy-style:
we put a bid on this pair of chairs they were comfy and will match the orange sofa.

week of annoyances -or- why ebay is really the devil

Long story short, I was browsing ebay and my computer started to collapse into itself and eat itself alive. Something on one of those pages gave me the shittiest computer virus ever (bankerfox.a) and I was down for a few days to make sure my system has been cleaned out 100%.  Holy guacamole what a mess.

My promised groovy orange layout is not finished yet, I made this Xmas one up quickly but I'm not fond of it. It will be gone by Dec 26th.

We did 2 auctions this week and found some crazy sweet stuff! But I'm behind in my photos so here are the pics from last-last week's crazy sweet stuff:

This & That

I have 2 custom layouts for this blog coming SOON, one for xmas and one for the rest of the year... is it sad that I'm excited about it? Anyway please excuse the eyesore of this layout, my spanking-new and groovy orange one should be ready by tonight.

Speaking of orange, this is the little lamp that I blame for starting the whole orange obsession.

Purchased in Germany (on this amazing miles-long antique market that runs along the Rhine in the city of Köln) and transported home wrapped in a super padding of dirty clothes. Now, it was purchased when I was looking at another table of goodies and I was honestly perplexed as to why Partner-In-Crime would buy an orange lamp.  His justification was that it was only a little bit orange. True enough, and it didn't offend me in the least. We have a stash of outlet converter thingies so the lamp got plugged in and I do use it.

Everything went downhill after Die kleine Lampe.

This Weekend's Fun Finds.

I'm hoping to be able to post every Monday or Tuesday with the weekend's finds. Just about every weekend we've been visiting the better flea markets or vintage shops in our area. During the week, we pour over craigslist ads looking for treasures, as well as eBay. And I'm not above mentioning that I have grabbed things from curbs that were meant for the trash!

This week's finds are a combination of  sources, sans trash-picking. If I ever post the price of anything, it is only because I feel it was a great score/deal and I'm not bragging by any means. (Although, I don't see how $5 items would lead anyone to think that my pockets are overflowing!) If there's anything I love more than the pieces themselves, it's getting a deal.

First up is what we have been looking for in every way: A 1965 Stereophonic Turntable Cabinet in gorgeous condition with fully working turntable, speakers and the original paperwork.
